Tina Spencer joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 1995. Tina holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Bellevue University. Many people know Tina from her years as the Manager of Bookstore and Parking Services. Tina joined the Office of Sustainability in October of 2018 as the Sustainability Coordinator. Tina enjoys building individual relationships and group partnerships, nurturing and educating others, and being of service to people and causes sometimes overlooked.
Melanie Stewart joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center in 2000. She holds a B.A. in Biology from Dana College and Masters of Public Administration from UNO. In 2010 UNMC and Nebraska Medicine started actively pursuing sustainability goals and Melanie has been involved since that time. In addition to developing the campus’s unique active transportation program TravelSmart, the Medical Center was able to reduce water use by 22% and energy use by more than 25% in a 5 year period, all while adding additional square feet to campus. She officially became the first Sustainability Manger for both UNMC and Nebraska Medicine in 2013, and was honored by the Midlands Business Journal as a 40 Under 40 recipient in 2017.
