LiveGreen is excited to announce our full slate of Earth MONTH activities for this year! You asked for greater flexibility in events and wanted them spread out so you could attend more items…done! We are combining with UNO sustainability and Nebraska Science Festival to bring you more opportunities and better fit your schedule. Some events are on campus during the business day while others are away from campus and/or can be attended with your family.
Events with a ** and bold are hosted by LiveGreen and located on the 42nd and Dewey Med Center campus.
Events with a ^^ are located at UNO’s campus.
All Scifest activities listed are open to people of any age.

All Month: Drawdown EcoChallenge. Visit the website to pledge to take a simple action, including educating yourself on a new topic. Join our team to earn points, win prizes, and make the planet better.
March 27th, Thursday: ^^Viewing of The Burden, an 60 minute film about the U.S. military moving away from fossil fuels as a matter of national security. A brief discussion will follow.
April 3rd, Tuesday: **Demonstration of and recipes for cleaning or personal care products. Reduce chemicals and risks to your health while saving money!
April 5th, Thursday: ^^Sustainability Expo; over 20 sustainability-related organizations from the Omaha-Metro area will be on hand to answer questions, describe the work they do, and provide information about how individuals can get involved in their efforts.
April 6th, Friday: **Yoga on the Green, free yoga class outside. Due to the weather, this class will be moved inside.
April 11th, Wednesday: **Demonstration of and recipes for cleaning or personal care products. Reduce chemicals and risks to your health while saving money!
April 13th, Friday: ^^Bio Innovation Summit featuring Mikhail Davis “Nature’s Design Genius: Using Biomimicry to Unlock Profitable Innovation”
April 16th, Monday: **Demonstration of and recipes for cleaning or personal care products. Reduce chemicals and risks to your health while saving money!
April 16th, Monday: **Yoga on the Green, free yoga class outside.
April 19th, Thursday: Mushroom cultivation workshop with City Sprouts
April 20th, Friday: Meteorologist Ginger Zee, Scifest headline event discussing weather as well as Zee’s personal story
April 21st, Saturday: Guided hike through Prairie Plains Resource Institute land preserve, Sherman Ranch.
April 21st, Saturday: Earth Day Omaha at Elmwood Park
April 21st-22nd, Saturday/Sunday: “Going Green: How to Reduce Your Garbage”, a 20 minute film shown at DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge–view wildlife while you are there!
April 22nd, Sunday: Earth Day BioBlitz, join scientists, teachers, and the community at the Wildlife Safari Park to count mammals, net butterflies, view bugs, and discover trees and plants.
April 22nd Sunday: View “Floodplain: A Clear View of Life in the Big Muddy” at Fontenelle Forest and listen to photographer Alex Wiles discuss his process. Trails and other activities will also be open.
April 23rd Monday: Cultivating a Pollinator Habitat; join horticulturist Scott Evans as he discusses solutions to improve the health of native pollinators in your backyard.
April 24th-25th, Tuesday/Wednesday: **Personal Document Shredding and Electronic, Battery, and Techno Trash Recycling
April 27th, Friday: **Arbor Day Celebration with Tree Planting, Tree Giveaway
April 27th-30th, Friday-Monday: Take the City Nature Challenge! This is the first year Omaha will take part in the international bio-blitz; encouraging people to go into cities and backyard to find, identify, and count wildlife.
April 28th, Saturday: **National Prescription Drug Take Back Day; keep family members safe and waterways clean by disposing of all drugs properly (for free!).
April 28th, Saturday: TREEmednous Arbor Day Celebration at Lauritzen Gardens.
April 28th, Saturday: Lincoln Earth Day
April 29th, Sunday: Sarpy County Earth Day
